6 Day Luxury Migration Safari Calving Season from Dec to April

On this tour, we will cover the 4 most popular destinations in Tanzania - Ndutu (2 nights), Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire & Manyara. With our experienced driver guides, it will be a trip of a lifetime! According to the last few years pattern, the possibility of sighting the migration is in the Ndutu region from the last week of December to March.
Hence, this tour is recommended for the tour date between the last week of December and the beginning of April. You will sleep in luxury hotels or lodges.

Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro or Arusha) you will be met by Thawabu Safari’s representative and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha for overnight stay waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00 am, you will have a short briefing before you depart for Tarangire National Park.
The park with its endless tree savannah including the impressive baobab trees and seasonal marshes is also home to the largest population of elephants in northern Tanzania.
You are also likely to spot giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gnus, and other types of antelopes and gazelles. Your guide will open the roof of the vehicle for excellent wildlife viewing.
Hot Lunch will be served at around 12:30 pm at the picnic site and after that you will continue to explore this incredible park.
In the evening after exploration, you will drive straight to your accommodation in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight stay.

Your safari will begin by 8:00 am in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Karatu and head towards the Ndutu region.
A few minutes commencing the drive, you will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) where you will notice the landscape changing from hilly forests to plain and green grasslands. Once you reach Ndutu you will begin a half-day game drive with a convenient stop for your picnic lunch.
Sweeping grasslands cover the region which gradually fades into the Serengeti. Ndutu forms a part of the route for the annual migration of more than 2 million wildebeests and thousands of zebra, antelope, and gazelle. During game drives at the right season between December and April, you will be able to see the fertile plains turn into calving grounds and nurseries for the great migration.
This season attracts hordes of predators preying on vulnerable young wildebeest. After game viewing, you will now head towards your choice of accommodation, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you.

Stunned by the previous day's spotting of the migration, today you get another chance to view the beautiful wildlife spectacle. The Ndutu region is a part of the glorious Serengeti National Park as well as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA).
You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for full day game drives around 9:00 AM with packed lunch and return back to lodge late afternoon around 6:00 PM. Today you will be following the migration depending on its location. During game drives at the right season between December and April, you will be able to see the fertile plains turn into calving grounds and nursery for the great migration.
This season attracts hordes of predators preying on vulnerable young wildebeest. The action-packed game drive will end late in the evening by around 5PM. You will now head towards your choice of accommodation, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you. Ensure you get some good rest and recharge yourself for another eventful day.

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, you will drive straight to the Ngorongoro conservation area whereby you stop at the viewpoint of Ngorongoro crater before you descend down the crater.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometers, with sides up to 600 meters deep, and is home to approximately 30,000 mammals.
The crater offers breathtakingly beautiful scenery and is the best place in East Africa to see the ‘Big Five" (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion, and rarely leopard). Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater.
The Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent birding, with over 500 species. You will have packed picnic lunch boxes with you and after having lunch at the picnic site, you will proceed with a game drive until the late afternoon where you will ascend the crater and drive straight to your lodgings in Karatu for an overnight stay.

Early morning after breakfast at, you will drive straight to Lake Manyara National Park which is also known as the home of Tree Climbing Lions and birds’ paradise. More than 500 species are present in Lake Manyara, and even for a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these species in a single day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Other animals that can be found here are giraffes, Zebras, hyenas, Buffalo, Hippo, elephants and wildebeests. Lunch will be served inside the park and after further exploration of the park you will return to Arusha.
Those who wish to combine this safari with a trip to Zanzibar can take a flight from the local Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
